Studbrand Value

Know what your herd is worth today

Studbrand Value prepares fair-value reports on livestock and other farm biological assets, aligned with IAS 41, so you can plan, sell and report with confidence, and insure or borrow when you need to.

When you need a valuation

  • Buying, selling or restructuring a farm or a herd
  • Year-end accounts that must show biological assets at fair value
  • Institutional farms, such as universities, reporting to a board or an auditor
  • Insuring livestock, or using it as security for a loan

What you receive

  • A physical count of the animals, classified by breed, age, sex and class
  • A valuation report aligned with IAS 41, explaining the method and the market inputs used
  • A certificate of valuation
  • A clean stock register you can keep using

How the work runs

  1. Scope

We agree the reporting date, the farms to cover, and what the report is for.

  2. Records review

We review your herd or stock records and recent sales and purchases. Good records shorten the field work.

  3. Field count and classification

Our team counts and classifies the animals on the farm, checking identification against the records.

  4. Market evidence

We gather current prices for comparable animals and apply them by class.

  5. Report and certificate of valuation

You receive the report and the certificate of valuation, and we answer your auditor’s questions on the method.

Experience

Studbrand has carried out a valuation of a Kenyan university farm’s livestock and other biological assets, from stock count and classification to the IAS 41-aligned report.

We name clients only with their written agreement.
